It all begins with an idea.

Hello,

Kicking off the first edition of Light Leaks with a quick run-through of some gear that’s been making my life a lot easier lately — both on set and in the grade. If you’ve been following my work, you know I don’t switch tools lightly, but these recent additions have made a real difference.

Let’s break it down.

🎥 Camera: Blackmagic PYXIS 6K

I’ve been shooting a lot on the Pyxis 6K, and it’s been a smooth transition. Coming from the Fuji XH2S, I was already pretty dialed into a 6K open gate workflow, but I gotta say… shooting in BRAW is such a breath of fresh air compared to managing Fuji F-Log files.

As someone who lives inside DaVinci Resolve, it’s honestly a dream — everything just plays nicer and grades cleaner right out of the gate.

🔍 Lenses: Thypoch Simera-C T1.5 Primes

A lot of y’all know I was a big fan of the Sirui Nightwalkers when I was running the XH2S. The Thypoch Simera-Cs have stepped in beautifully on the Pyxis.

They’re small (still mirrorless-style form factor), fast at T1.5, and pack that DZO-like cinematic character I love. The real kicker? They cover full frame — no compromises. Been loving how these look straight out the camera.

🧠 Focus: DJI Focus Pro LiDAR

Real talk, I don’t always have the luxury of a 1st AC — our studio leans heavy into photo culture, so I’m usually solo on the focus side.

Having the DJI LiDAR focus system paired with these Thypochs has been a dream. It’s made me way more confident shooting wide open, and honestly lets me stay locked into performance without babysitting the lens constantly.

🖥️ In the Suite

📺 Monitors:

I’ve been running both and they’ve been a killer combo. Factory-calibrated Rec. 709, great color fidelity, and the best part — I’m finally not grading on a tiny laptop screen.

If you’re serious about color, this is one of the most important upgrades you can make.

🎛️ Capture: Blackmagic UltraStudio Monitor 3G

This little box gives me a clean 10-bit feed out of Resolve directly to my reference monitor. No overlays, no distractions — just the image.

It’s helped me trust what I’m seeing, and that translates to more confident grades that actually hold up across displays.

🎚️ Control: DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel

Do you need one of these? Probably not.
Is it a game-changer once it’s on your desk? Absolutely.

The tactile experience makes grading genuinely enjoyable — it’s fast, intuitive, and just fun. If you’re in Resolve every day, it’s something to consider when you’re ready to level up.

That’s it for now — just wanted to share what’s been working for me lately. Hope this gives some insight if you’re thinking about upgrading your own workflow. Got questions? Just hit reply. Always down to talk shop.

That’s it for this volume — just sharing what’s been keeping me inspired and efficient lately.

If you’re looking to go even deeper, I’ve been building something special called Monitor Access — it’s the paid side of Divine’s Den, where I break down lighting setups, camera builds, and real-world color workflows from actual campaigns I shoot. No fluff, just practical insights and tools from someone living this every day.

If you’ve ever wanted to peek behind the scenes and really see how the work gets made, Monitor Access might be your thing. It helps keep this whole thing going — and I’d love to have you in there.

Grateful for you,
Divine
